What the process asks of you
The Authority lists three steps: choose your business activity, submit your application with the required documents through its digital system, and receive your licence. The documents are confirmed inside the application, so treat the list below as preparation, not a guarantee of the full list.
What to have ready
- A clear description of your business activity. This decides your licence type (see licence types).
- Identity documents for each owner. Valid passport copies are the usual starting point.
- Your legal structure. Decide whether you are forming a new free zone company or opening a branch of an existing company.
- Proposed company names. Have a few options ready in case your first choice is taken.
- Your premises choice. AFZ offers business centre offices, executive offices, warehouses and industrial land.
If you are opening a branch
A branch of an existing company usually needs documents from the parent company as well, such as its trade licence and corporate documents. These may need attesting or translating, so start early. Ask for the branch list when you request your quote.
After the licence
